Renting High Reach Equipment

It is easy to wonder what high reach equipment will be needed for a given situation if one has never had much experience with aerial lifts. However, simply guessing will never do. Not only does the wrong equipment keep a job from getting done efficiently, but it can be a terrible safety hazard as well. This is especially true when dealing with such things as indoor and outdoor workspaces, power lines, tipping hazards, and other worker safety issues.

Renting high reach equipment from a rental agency is always a good idea in these situations. An agency will not only help a customer define what it is they need, but they will also be able to provide a certified operator to go with the equipment.

Scissor Lift

The most commonly rented high reach equipment is the scissor lift. With a wide platform and a solid base, a scissor lift can elevate up to two people straight up and down. These types of lifts can be so compact that they will fit through an average sized doorway. Often seen in work and retail environments, a scissor lift is a good choice for lifting a worker twenty feet or more. Many compact models have a zero turning radius, which means that they can get into the smaller spaces that other types of lifts cannot. They are also popular for the fact that they are designed to work quietly and give off no noxious fumes.

Boom Lift

A boom lift is a piece of high reach equipment that differs from scissor lifts in that they move in a number of directions. A boom lift usually consists of a bucket on the end of a straight or jointed arm. They are also commonly referred to as cherry pickers and have the capacity to work indoors at amazing heights. Often used for work in shopping malls or other buildings with cathedral ceilings, a boom lift typically only has room for a single worker. A boom lift is a best bet for those needing an aerial lift that has a reach of eighty to ninety feet.

When using high reach equipment, safety is of the highest order. Though it would seem that finding something with the right height is all that is necessary - in reality one needs to consider the platform needs, power choices, and work environment as well. Aerial lifts meant for indoor work will likely be inadequate for outdoor work and vice versa. Once these issues are defined the appropriate aerial lift can be rented with ease.
